‘Price is Right’ Contestant In Wheelchair Wins Treadmill

The Price is Right' gives wheelchair-bound contestant a treadmill | Fox17

“The Price is Right”, an American icon that has been giving away prizes to lucky winners for close to 43 years, has seen its share of bloopers with both Bob Barker at the helm as well as Drew Carey, who took over for the Emmy award-winning host in 2007.

Many fans of the show flock into their studios in hopes of hearing those infamous words, “Come on down” to contestants row, where they will have to bid closet to the actual price without going over.  I’m certain many selected contestants fear they will never make it on stage, bomb-out on their guesses or trip while spinning the wheel, all of which brings cajoling from tv watchers from around the globe.

It appears none of this happened with Danielle Perez’s trip TPIR dreamland in an episode that aired on Tuesday. She made it on stage to met Drew and even won her prize package consisting of a sauna and treadmill, all of which would have been great, except Perez has “no legs and uses a wheelchair”.

Of course Perez’s winning trip was quickly posted on YouTube, made the Twitter rounds and received plenty of reaction from those who follow social media.

Even on of Perez’s friends got in on the Twitter action with her own tweet:

Perez is a wheelchair bound comedian since 2004 after losing her legs in an accident. She laughed about her win, but said the strangest thing about the whole ordeal was the reaction of The Price is Right staff.

“I kept thinking that it was a really big joke,” she said with a laugh, “But there was no irony in their cheers or applause.”

Regardless fo the awkward pause from the audience, she claims was edited out of the show, “Everyone at CBS seemed genuinely excited for me that I won.”

The comedian has retweeted several tweets referencing her win, displaying her sense of humor over it all, and although the treadmill may not get used by her, she still had a good laugh over  it, tweeting;

Even show host Drew Carey got in on Twitter comments with his tweet;
