So it seems for a second time in a year, troops from Fort Bragg Special Operations and Sheriff deputies from Richland County, South Carolina are teaming up again. Conspiracy theorists have been postulating across social media venues that the newest training program initiative Jade Helm 15, slated to start in July 2015, is what they believe to be a direct violation of Posse Comitatus, and yet our government has been doing exactly that for years.
The Posse Comitatus Act, passed in 1878, was intended to limit the federal government from using U.S. military forces to enforce laws against American citizens. The recent 7 state training exercise slated for this coming summer has bloggers and watchdog groups setting the internet on fire with every type of “conspiracy theory” imaginable, as one particular blogger from the DC Clothesline exhibits with his notation;
“Many are concerned recent and upcoming military training exercises that pair the federal forces with civilian police officers are treading dangerously close to that Posse Comitatus line.” he continues with; “The fact that the police and military are engaging in joint drill exercises in violation of Posse Comitatus and a long-standing American tradition of separation between domestic policing and military activity is concerning,” the blogger wrote.
WLTX 19, a CBS affiliate out of the Columbia, South Carolina area has described the training as; “Military and sheriff’s department vehicles will be traveling in the Lower Richland County community near Eastover and Hopkins. The sheriff’s department states that people in those areas may also hear ordinance being set off or shots being fired. Stating they are just simulations or blanks and pose no risk to the community.”
Their report goes on to say; “Sheriff Leon Lott says the department’s Special Response Team will take part in the exercises with the 3rd Special Forces Group. Lott says deputies will provide simulated scenarios for the military. Lott says Richland County provides an ideal location for training that cannot be replicated at Fort Bragg.”
As I said, sites that have been dubbed “conspiratorial” have much more to say about such things, such as InfoWars’ take on the exercise: “Special forces out of Fort Bragg are training with SWAT officers in Richland County, South Carolina, this week for house-to-house raids, another unnerving sign of the militarization of domestic law enforcement. The late night and pre-dawn exercises … have been running since May 8.”
They have also posted videos on YouTube that are claiming to be images of special forces conducting night raids in civilian spots throughout the country.
This most current joint event in South Carolina comes at a time when many throughout the world of social media have been posting updates regarding the Jade Helm exercise, an unprecedented training operation involving all four branches of our military in conjunction with the FBI, DEA and various local law enforcement agencies throughout a seven state region.
Whether Jade Helm is truly a nefarious backdoor attempt at acclimatizing the American people toward the idea of “martial law” like some are saying, or its exactly as our government is explaining it to be, is yet to be fully determined by this author, but I will say; “My tin-foil Stetson is hanging on the rack, and I’m not afraid to wear it.”
Regardless of all the “conspiracy theories” surrounding Jade Helm or the current Richland County-Fort Bragg joint training in South Carolina, there is much to be concerned with over this new type of training, because if it truly is a martial law scenario they are training for, or just preparing for some type of terrorist activities within our borders, both are experiences We the People have never seen before.
One last thought; If our governments intent is complete “opacity” in regards to these operations and the general public, then why isn’t the Mainstream Media reporting about it? The only source of information regarding this exercise that I was able to easily obtain from a MSM type news agency was a “three paragraph article from WXLT 19”. I’m a curious minded person, I like to know what is happening around me, and I want more sources of verified information. That is the biggest problem surrounding conspiracy sites, none of it is “verified”. I will keep digging and researching, hoping to bring you the best possible, verifiable information I can find… I’m just not holding my breath that I can find it.
