In the wake of the Baltimore turmoil, documentary filmmaker Michael More took to Twitter with some “Demands.” Quite unexpectedly, Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke “agreed” with Moore, based on two conditions.
First the “Demands”
Here’s my demand: I want every African-American currently incarcerated for drug “crimes” or nonviolent offenses released from prison today.
— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) April 30, 2015
Next demand: Disarm the police. We have a 1/4 billion 2nd amendment guns in our homes 4 protection. We’ll survive til the right cops r hired — Michael Moore (@MMFlint) April 30, 2015
The absurdity and hypocrisy of the demands made by Moore are astonishing. In quoting the word “crimes” he seems to imply that drug possession or sales are not really crimes at all, yet he is only demanding that “every African-American” incarcerated for such crimes be released. Apparently Whites, Hispanics, Asians or any other ethnic group incarcerated for those “crimes” should remain in prison for the additional “crime” of not being African-American. As for disarming the police, there are many who would agree with him on that, however for him to cite “a 1/4 billion 2nd amendment guns in our homes 4 protection” seems a bit odd considering his history.
It was just about a year ago, in a response to the mass shooting in Isla Vista, CA., that he took a very different view of those 2nd amendment guns, saying “We are a people easily manipulated by fear which causes us to arm ourselves with a quarter BILLION guns in our homes that are often easily accessible to young people, burglars, the mentally ill and anyone who momentarily snaps.” So are drug “crimes” only real crimes when someone other than African-Americans commit them? Are the quarter billion 2nd amendment guns in our homes for protection or to be easily accessible to young people, burglars, the mentally ill and anyone who momentarily snaps?
Despite the inconsistencies of Mr. Moore’s ‘Demands’ it seems that Sheriff Clarke, who is a staunch 2nd amendment supporter, has been outspoken on both the violence in Ferguson and Baltimore, and adamantly defends America’s police departments, “agreed” with Moore – with a catch:

It’s been reported that Moore spends most of his time at either his 10,000 sq. ft home on Torch Lake in Michigan (valued at $2 million) or his Manhattan condo (which used to be 3 separate apartments). So, it would make sense that Detroit and New York be the first to pilot the African-American drug “crime” release programs and with all that square footage, Mr. Moore has plenty of room to facilitate the inmate transitions in his own homes.
Regardless of whether you like/dislike, agree/disagree with Michael Moore on any given issue, using emotional charged current events to make ludicrous “demands” for attention, deserves a comeuppance and in this case is seems that Sheriff Clarke delivered.
