AMSAT-NA To Hitch a Ride to Geostationary Orbit

The Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT), formed in 1969 to “foster Amateur Radio’s participation in space research and communication”, has announced that they have accepted an opportunity to participate in a potential rideshare as a hosted payload on a geostationary satellite planned for launch in 2017, according to the sourcelink.

The Vietnam War raged from the mid 50s through the mid 70s. During that time the US dropped as much as three times as many bombs as it did during World War II. It’s estimated that as much as 10% of those bombs didn’t detonate and could be armed and dangerous.
